The SEGA Alliance region is home to global companies producing and distributing diverse products with a workforce population exceeding 1 million people within an hour’s drive. Companies like Gulfstream, General Dynamics Electric Boats, BAE Systems, PaR Systems, Rich Products Corporation and Rayonier produce aerospace, defense, food, forestry and marine products. Logistics based companies such as Mercedes Benz and International Auto , thrive in this region as they move inventory throughout North America using the Port of Brunswick, two Class I Rail providers and three nearby interstates, I-95, I-10 & I-16.
Aerospace and Defense increased by 354 jobs (3.3%) from 2012-2017, outpacing the national growth rate, jobs are at 3.34 times the national job concentration and cost of labor in the region is below average: $126.7K, which is $463.4 below the national average of $127.2K.
Chemical Manufacturing increased by 168 jobs (8.7%) from 2012-2017, outpacing the natioonal growth rate of 4.6%, jobs are 1.66 times the national job concentration and cost of labor in the region is below average: $89.2K, which is $6.1K below the national average of $95.4K.
With approximately 50 miles of coastline and access points to the Atlantic Ocean, the Southeast Georgia Alliance region is a prime location for marine related industry. From repair and refit to manufacturing, our region can support access to a highly qualified workforce as well as access to suppliers and distribution networks.
Food Processing and Manufacturing increased by 715 jobs (21.2%) from 2012-2017, outpacing the national growth rate of 19.9%, jobs are 1.49 times the national job concentration and cost of labor in the region is above average: $78.5K, which is $11.1K above the national average of $67.4K.
The region’s proximity to pine forests has attracted a diverse mix of wood product industries. Included are the world’s largest performance fibers plant, two of GA Pacific’s manufacturing mills, a high performance rosin and polyterpene resins manufacturing plant and mulch and wood chip production.
Transportation and Logistics increased by 2,917 jobs (18.7%) from 2012-2017, outpacing the national growth rate of 8.1%, jobs are 1.62 times the national job concentration and cost of labor in the region is below average: $67.9K, which is $5.4K below the national average of $73.3K.
