New owners to re-open Piggly Wiggly this spring at its former location in Jesup’s Cherry Street City Center under the new ownership of Reynolds Foodliner Inc. President Tom Coogle said, “We are excited and looking forward to coming to Jesup. Wayne County is the type of community we like to locate in, and we pride ourselves on how we operate. Each Piggly Wiggly is independently owned and is only as good as its operator. We hire the best of the best, and we work to offer a level of service and items that communities this size may not see.” He added, “Our hallmark is fresh meats. Quality in everything we do comes first. We price as low as we can, but we never skimp on quality.”
The Jesup store will be the seventh Piggly Wiggly for Reynolds Foodliner, with the closest being in Hazlehurst. It is set to employ 50-60 people with most of those being local. However, to ensure continuity and success, he plans to promote a seasoned store manager from one of his other stores to startup and manage this one.
Coogle’s father, Tommy, established the company in 1976 with a store in Oglethorpe, a small town in West Georgia. Coogle grew up in the business and became the company’s operator in 2008.
